Markdown versions of documentation pages are available by appending `.md` to page URLs; this page is available as [Markdown](https://wiki.mc-blaze.com/advanced-guides/breeding-guide.md). # Pixelmon Breeding Guide: Day Care, Eggs & IVs How to breed Pokémon on Blaze Gaming's Pixelmon server: Day Care at /warp daycare, the items each type needs, eggs, IVs, shinies and the breeding tax. {% hint style="info" %} On our wiki, we use the following icons when features are restricted in some way. Below are the icons and what they mean: * Blaze Modpack Required * Discord Server Exclusive * Cobblemon Server Exclusive * Pixelmon Server Exclusive {% endhint %} *** **Short answer:** on our Pixelmon server Pixelmon Server Exclusive, you breed Pokémon in the **Day Care**. Go to `/warp daycare`, put two compatible Pokémon in a Day Care slot and hand in the items their types need. An egg is ready in about 1.5 hours. Type `/breedingguide` in game for the full list of items for every type. {% hint style="info" %} Breeding works the normal Pixelmon way on Blaze, with a few extras: higher ranks get more Day Care slots, and breeding Pokémon with high IVs costs a tax in coins (see [Blaze extras](#blaze-extras)). Breeding is only on our Pixelmon server. Our Cobblemon server doesn't have it. {% endhint %} ## How do I breed Pokémon? {% stepper %} {% step %} #### Go to the Day Care Type `/warp daycare` and right-click a Day Care block to open it. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Add two compatible Pokémon Move two Pokémon from your party or PC into a Day Care slot. They need to be a male and a female from the same Egg Group, or one of them can be a Ditto (see [Which Pokémon can breed?](#which-pokemon-can-breed)). {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Hand in the items they need The items depend on each Pokémon's main type, and each type needs three kinds of items. Fire types, for example, need Flint and Steel, Lava Buckets and Blaze Rods. Type `/breedingguide` to see the items for every type. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Wait for the egg Breeding takes about 1.5 hours per egg, and you can leave the Day Care while it runs. When the egg is ready, claim it from the Day Care. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Hatch it Keep the egg in your party and walk around. Type `/eggsteps` to see how many steps are left. A Pokémon with Flame Body, Magma Armor or Steam Engine in your party hatches eggs twice as fast. {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} {% hint style="warning" %} Eggs only hatch in your party. They don't make progress while they're in your PC. {% endhint %} ## Which Pokémon can breed? * **A male and a female from the same Egg Group.** The baby is the first evolution of the mother's species. * **Ditto breeds with almost anything,** whatever its gender. It's the only way to breed genderless Pokémon. * **Undiscovered Pokémon can't breed at all,** even with a Ditto. That includes most legendaries and mythicals. * **Some babies need an incense.** For example, a mother Snorlax (or a Snorlax bred with a Ditto) must hold a Full Incense to give you a Munchlax. Without it, you get a Snorlax. ## What does the baby inherit? | What | How it's passed on | | ----------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | IVs | Three random IVs from the parents, or five if a parent holds a **Destiny Knot** | | A chosen IV | A parent holding a **Power item** (such as a Power Weight for HP) always passes on that IV | | Nature | A parent holding an **Everstone** passes on its nature | | Ability | The mother usually passes on her ability, including a Hidden Ability (with a Ditto, the other parent's ability can pass on) | | Moves | Egg moves from either parent, level-up moves both parents know, and TM moves the father knows (if the baby can learn them) | | Poké Ball | Usually the mother's ball, but never a Master Ball or Cherish Ball | Check a Pokémon's IVs with `/ivs [slot]` before you pick your parents. ## Shiny breeding Parents from two different original trainers give your eggs **six times** the normal shiny chance. Trade with a friend, or buy a Pokémon on the [GTS](/features/global-trade-system.md), to get a parent from someone else. ## Blaze extras | Extra | What it does | | ------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | More Day Care slots | Higher Pixelmon ranks breed more pairs at once | | `/daycare` | Open the Day Care from anywhere (Silver rank and up) | | `/hatch` | Hatch an egg in your party straight away (Alpha rank and up) | | Breeding tax | Breeding Pokémon with high IVs costs a tax in coins. A **Tax Exemption Token** lets you breed without paying it | | `/breeding rewind` | Use a **Rewind token** to undo a breeding result | Ranks are optional and sold in our [store](https://store.mc-blaze.com/). Rewind tokens and Tax Exemption Tokens come from crates, [voting](/features/voting.md), [Bingo](/features/bingo.md), events and our [Monthly Tournaments](/features/monthly-tournaments.md). ## Frequently asked questions ### Can I breed on the Cobblemon server? No. Breeding is only on our Pixelmon server. See [Cobblemon vs Pixelmon](/info-pages/cobblemon-vs-pixelmon.md) for the other differences. ### Do I need a rank to breed? No. Everyone can use the Day Care at `/warp daycare`. Ranks add more slots and commands like `/daycare` and `/hatch`. ### Where are the Ranch Blocks? Pixelmon replaced Ranch Blocks with Day Care blocks. If you played on an old season, use `/warp daycare` now. ### Does a Pokémon in the Day Care gain levels? No. In Pixelmon, Pokémon in the Day Care don't gain experience. ### Where can I learn the rest of Pixelmon?
