Can't Join? Fix Pixelmon & Cobblemon Errors
Fix mismatched mods, version errors, "failed to connect" and "invalid session" when joining Blaze Gaming's Pixelmon or Cobblemon servers at play.mc-blaze.com.
Many join problems come from a version mismatch. Your Minecraft, your mod (Pixelmon or Cobblemon) and the server all have to be on the same version. The quickest fix is almost always to update or reinstall our modpack. Find the message you're seeing below.
These are the versions our servers run right now:
Pixelmon ![]()
1.21.1
Pixelmon Reforged 9.4.1
NeoForge
pixel.mc-blaze.com
Cobblemon
1.21.1
Cobblemon 1.8.1
Fabric
cobble.mc-blaze.com
The network hub, play.mc-blaze.com, takes you to both.
"Mismatched mod set", "Mismatched Version(s)" or "Network Protocol Error"
Your mods don't match the server's.
Update the modpack. CurseForge and the Modrinth App show an update option on the modpack when a new version is out. Update it, then relaunch.
Using your own mods? Match the versions and the mod loader in the table above, and remove extra mods that change gameplay. Cobblemon also comes for NeoForge, but our Cobblemon server needs the Fabric version.
Playing Cobbleverse, Cobblemon Academy 2.0 or another pack?
Cobbleverse and Cobblemon Academy 2.0 can't join our Cobblemon server. Other packs only work if they match our versions exactly, even ones with names like ours. Install Cobblemon Plus+ from the links in How to Join a Cobblemon Server as a separate profile; your single-player worlds stay where they are.
"Outdated client", "Outdated server" or "Incompatible client"
Your Minecraft version doesn't match the server's (see the table above). Newer releases, like Minecraft 26.x or 1.21.10 and 1.21.11, won't connect.
Launch through our modpack, which picks the right version for you.
If you built your own profile, set its Minecraft version to match the table above.
I installed the newest Pixelmon and now it won't connect
Pixelmon's recommended download may not match our server, which runs 9.4.1. Reinstall with Pixelmon Plus+, or download the 9.4.1 file instead (on reforged.gg it may be labelled Beta). Using the Pixelmon Reforged launcher? Pick 9.4.1 in its version list. See How to Join a Pixelmon Server.
"Failed to connect to the server", "Connection timed out" or "Unknown host"
Check the address for typos: play.mc-blaze.com, pixel.mc-blaze.com or cobble.mc-blaze.com.
Try the other address. If a direct address fails, try the hub, and the other way round.
Check your connection, and restart your router if other games or sites are slow too.
Check our Discord for maintenance or restart announcements.
Playing with TLauncher or a cracked account?
Our servers need a paid Minecraft: Java Edition account, so TLauncher and other cracked or offline launchers can't join (you'll usually see "Failed to verify username"). Buy Minecraft: Java Edition, then sign in with your Microsoft account in the official launcher, CurseForge or the Modrinth App.
"Failed to log in: Invalid session" or "Failed to verify username"
Your launcher's Microsoft sign-in needs refreshing.
Close Minecraft and the launcher completely, then reopen them and try again.
Still failing? Sign out of your Microsoft account in the launcher, sign back in, and launch again.
The game crashes on startup ("exit code 1") or times out while loading
It's often memory, or something you added to the modpack.
Give Minecraft 4 to 6 GB of RAM in your launcher's settings. That's plenty for our modpacks.
Remove anything you added to the modpack, like extra mods or shaders, and try again.
Update your graphics drivers.
Leave Java to the launcher. CurseForge and the Modrinth App install the right Java for you. If you set Java yourself, our servers' Minecraft version needs Java 21.
Missing textures, or Pokémon and items look wrong
Your resource pack isn't loaded. Accept the resource pack prompt when you join, or press F3 + T to reload textures and then rejoin. See Resource Pack for the full fix.
I can't join on Bedrock, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch or mobile
Pixelmon and Cobblemon only run on Minecraft: Java Edition (Windows, Mac or Linux), so our servers are Java only.
Still stuck?
Open a support ticket in our Discord with a screenshot of the error, and say which server you're joining and how you installed the game (Pixelmon Plus+, Cobblemon Plus+ or your own mods).
Checked for Storm V (Pixelmon) and Infinity I (Cobblemon). Spotted a mistake? Tell us in our Discord.
